Oh man, i have been procrastinating so much on finishing up my Rome trip.
Gotta get down to this before 2017 ends.
Well, Day 2, woke up with only one mission, to visit the Colosseum. Well, for day 2, we decided not to even take the public transport, we opt to walk through this magical city.
The walk from our hotel to Colosseum took appx 30 mins but in this kind of weather, we had no problem at all.
Google map have been super helpful throughout this entire trip and of course, my handy powerbank. Cant transfer across the globe without it.
The Colosseum is so so so big close up. Never imagine it to be this big. Seeing it up close means so much!
and just right beside the Colosseum is the Arch of Constantine. :)
The Arch of Constantine is situated right between the Colosseum and Palatine Hill.
Started queuing for our grand entrance. HAHAH
Queue wasn't particularly long, we waited for about 10 mins before it was our turn for security check.
Queue wasn't very very long to purchase ticket as well. But just to be safe, i suggest buying them online. :)
Shelley needed the toilet badly, so i went into the Colosseum to walk about 1st.
She dropped her ticket in the toilet some more. HAHAH thank god, she had the QR code or not, there is no way we can enter Palatine Hill.
The ticket to Colloseum allows you entry to Palatine Hill as well, so please make sure you keep them safe.
Seeing Colosseum upclose is just magnificent.
Up level 2 to get a better view. There is also an underground tour, you can opt to check out what they have beneath the Amphitheater.
And, we saw people on the highest level of the Colosseum as well but had no idea how did they end up there. I believe they are from a guided tour and only tour guide know the Colosseum at the back of their hand.
Looking at Colosseum as a whole in this pic.
Had to spam all the pics, it's too nice to not be featured.
Up one level to steal a pic of the Arch of Constantine.
Referring to the pic above, you will see a super long queue heading up the walkup. That queue is to gain entry into Palatine Hill.
Me and Shelley walked passed it wondering, why is people queuing up here for? To only find out that, this is also an entrance into Palatine Hill.
You need to scan the QR code on your printed ticket to gain access.
The entire place is so huge, we spent about 1 and half hour just walking around. It's so super big and the sun was actually shining quite brightly, so we were actually sweating by then.
Inside the Palatine Hill, reside the Roman Forum. Roman Forum is a rectangular forum surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome.
Were getting a bit tired from all the walking around in Palatine Hill, so we decided to just leave. LOL
Time for a good lunch after so much walking.
Stopped at a local restaurant for food.
And how can i miss Gelato. :)
After a good meal, we headed to Piazza Venezia again and this time to visit the National Museum of Palazzo Venezia. Entrance is FOC.
Honestly, the outside looks a lot more grand then what they have inside.
Wasn't much to see inside but we wanted to get to the highest open space to take a look at Piazza Venezia. :)
Was looking through google maps on where should we head too next and Pizza Novana was quite close.
Piazza Novana is just a square in Rome with small fountains.
Just so happen, on the day that we were there, there was a marathon happening around the square, we actually waited for a while to see what was happening.
There was a beautiful church smack right in the middle of Piazza Novana. Shelley wanted the toilet again, we were hoping that there will be toilet in the church but no such luck le.
After watching the final race, we had in mind to visit Trevi fountain at night, so off we went heading towards Trevi Fountain but before arriving at Trevi, we stumble across the Pantheon. What a nice coincident. HAHAH.
Queue into Pantheon was relatively long, so told Shelley, we will just come back the next day.
Arrived at Trevi fountain before sun down, so we decided to just grab dinner first before heading back to Trevi.
Dinner was painfully expensive but was actually quite good la! Sighh. Dont even want to mention how much this dinner cost.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Trevi Fountain in real life, the most famous Fountain in the world. It's pictured so romantically in movies and what not but in real life, with the amount of people, there is no way I could have felt any sort of Romance. LOL Nevertheless, it's still so so so beautiful in real life, really didnt want to leave Trevi that night.
We had no energy to wake up super early in the morning or stay till late hours to get a pic without any human. So this is the best we can do.
Day ended with us walking 20KM, 29,000 steps.
Signing off,
Samantha Tew
